Kvie Lake

Enjoy a walk or run around Kvie Sø 

• Kvie lake offers a nice walk. Along the way, you can enjoy the colorful and exciting nature that meets you along the paths. 

• The path around Kvie lake is approximately 2.3 km long. It is easy to move around, even with a pram. Kvie lake is one of the few clean water lakes in Denmark with rare plants such as lobelia, beach boa and sea bream. The path through the peat bog southwest of the lake is approximately 1 km longer.

Nekkus the troll

In the old days it was believed that a troll "Nekkus" lived in Kvie lake. 

One day a couple of heifers ran into the lake. Nekkus tried to take them with his spear but they got away. 

With screams and shouts, Nekkus grabbed the spear and again thrust it angrily at Kvie. 

It is said that you can still see a crack in the wall...

Beautiful but fragile nature

The rare water plants in Kvie lake are easily damaged if you step on them - Therefore you may only swim in a small part of the lake to the north. 

Boats & fishing

It is permitted to sail with small boats on the lake outside the bathing area, but not with a motor - and only in deep water. The boat must not touch the bottom and the plants along the bank. Windsurfing and fishing are not permitted. Fishing can be done in one of the many fishing lakes close by. View "Great Places to Visit" on our site.
